It will be of interest to school counsellors, therapists, social workers, youth workers, teaching staff and other professionals working with young people. All these words mean something very similar and they all refer to that uncomfortable feeling we get when we are uncertain or afraid of somethingunknown.

Progressive muscle relaxation – exercises that will help you to recognise the differences between feeling tense and at ease. Teens are taught to identify the sources of their stress, anger, and anxiety as well as the thoughts that accompany these feelings. The extensive use of visuals and repetition of topics and concepts makes this series a good fit for youth on the spectrum.

I really recommend AnxietyUK to everyone- they also have fantastic group resources and I think it's really really helpful, especially if you can't afford private therapy and the wait lists in your area are too long. Bursting with stories, puzzles, quizzes, and colouring, drawing and writing games, this is a unique tool for parents or practitioners to use with children aged 5 to 9 years.

My critique is that it seems to be all over the place for age ranges - it says it is geared toward tweens and teens, but parts seemed written for much younger children. An ideal anxiety management resource for mental health practitioners, social workers, education staff and youth workers. I think it would be a great asset to therapists and parents of anxious youngsters, and it also provides a very useful resource for teachers dealing in any pastoral capacity with anxious youngsters, because it offers an excellent, accessible and straightforward introduction to using CBT techniques with young people. I also liked the interactivity in the book, although it was near impossible to do this with a Kindle. Based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles that link thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, the activities help young people aged 10+ understand why they get anxious and how to use simple, practical techniques to manage their anxiety.

The more anxiety you feed him, the bigger and bigger he gets and the more and more anxious you feel! The information has great practical application in real life and I found myself really engaging with the material and filing away the knowledge should a gremlin take up residence in my life! I'm convinced that this book will offer great help to young sufferers from anxiety, especially when supported in using it.
