About this deal

She says, “The MamaRoo has lots of choice of movement and sounds, all of which can be changed remotely via the app. This is great if you want to sit down with a rare hot cup of tea.” Lucy has reviewed a wide range of baby bouncers over the years and as such is well versed to recognise the key features that are beneficial to parents. She says, “The MamaRoo has quite a futuristic/contemporary design which is best suited to a modern or minimalist home. It may look a bit out of place in a traditional cottage or rustic property.” Swings that need power will often run on batteries. But you can find some that also come with an A/C adapter. This lets you rely on power when you’re at home so that you don’t have to worry about draining the batteries. Unlike some more portable bouncers and swings, the MamaRoo is best suited for use in a particular room in your home. Taking up around the same amount of space as a large dining room chair, it has a relatively small footprint but doesn’t fold down or go flat, making it less easy to store than a fold-flat bouncer such as the BabyBjörn Bouncer Balance Soft or Chicco Hoopla.

Luci, a mum of two, tested the 4Moms MamaRoo in her home for a period of four months with her newborn baby, who was just two weeks old when testing began. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends babies shouldn't be in a swing more than 30 minutes at a time. If your baby falls asleep in the mamaRoo infant seat we recommend moving the baby to a separate approved sleep surface, such as a crib, playard or bassinet. Luci’s first impressions of the MamaRoo were mixed. With a modern design, the 4Moms MamaRoo 5.0 has a simple white base and silver frame with a grey/silver cover. Luci felt that the design wasn’t particularly attractive, with the fabric less premium than she would have expected given the significant price tag. Remove the mobile from your MamaRoo by turning it 90 degrees to the left or right and gently pulling it upwards to remove itNo. The newborn insert is not required for use; however, you may choose to use it because it does provide extra support for the baby. The mamaRoo infant seat is designed to comfort, soothe, and entertain your baby. It can be used throughout the day or when parents need a hands-free moment. The mamaRoo infant seat is not intended for extended or overnight sleep since it is neither a flat surface (there is always a slight recline) or a firm surface as recommended by pediatricians. If your baby falls asleep in the mamaRoo infant seat and you’re not able to provide the required supervision, we recommend moving the baby to a separate approved sleep surface. Our parent tester Luci found that her baby didn’t show any real preference in terms of movement settings, although she noted that this may change as they get older.

The infant swing seat fabrics (classic, plush, and cool mesh) and the newborn insert are machine washable. We recommend washing them in cold water on the gentle cycle. Do not use bleach. Tumble dry separately on low heat and remove promptly from dryer. How do I clean the harness straps? Bluetooth functionality - stream baby’s favorite music and easily adjust motion, speed, or sound with the 4moms app While both feature 5 unique motions that bounce up and down and sway from side to side, just like parents do, the mamaRoo sleep bassinet and the mamaRoo infant seat have different uses to provide baby the comfort or entertainment they need.

Removable seat fabric

Every baby is different. And every parent has unique soothing moves to keep their little ones happy. The MamaRoo 5.0 features super soft plush seat fabric to keep your little one even more comfortable and can be removed easily to be machine washed. The integrated safety harness can be converted from 5-point to 3-point and comes with soft shoulder pads. . The optional newborn insert (sold separately) provides extra support and comfort for smaller babies. While our parent tester Luci would have expected more luxurious fabrics and a newborn insert included for the price, she found the range of motions and sounds to be very impressive. We think this bouncer would be particularly beneficial for parents who’s baby struggles to be put down, as this would allow some much-needed hands-free time. Updated base design, new plush seat patterns and toy ball designs, updated built-in sounds and an updated LCD interface. Bluetooth enabled so you can control motion & sound from your smart device. While still in the Alexa app, ask Alexa to discover devices by saying “Alexa, Discover Devices”. This may take up to 45 seconds

The MamaRoo has five motion settings and five different speed settings which can easily be adjusted depending on your preferences. The 4Moms MamaRoo feels secure and sturdy with a strong base that provides a solid foundation on any floor surface. Whilst the swing seat itself doesn’t have sides, it slopes up at the edges to create a secure and comfortable cocoon for your baby. The MamaRoo® Multi-Motion Baby Swing™ is intended for use until your little one reaches a maximum of 25lbs (11.3 kg) or attempts to climb out (approximately 9 months), whichever comes first. There is a slight whirring noise when the MamaRoo is moving but Luci didn’t find this disruptive. Does it have any extra features? The movements can be altered via the app or directly on the base and Luci found this fairly intuitive to do. There are five speeds, but when testing the MamaRoo, Luci found most of them too intense for her newborn. At speed four, she felt the motion was more like a ride and therefore didn’t progress to speed five. For safety, the MamaRoo must be used under parental supervision at all times and should not be used for overnight sleeping. It has been tested and certified to comply with European Safety Standards. It’s worth noting that the historical recall of the MamaRoo (due to the harness hanging down and posing a choking hazard when not in use) applies to a previous model only, with significant updates to the design since then. Without the newborn insert, there is no additional head support which can make positioning for a younger baby a little more challenging. While she reported that her then 11-week-old fitted comfortably in the swing, Luci felt her baby’s feet would be over the end way before the expected six-month mark recommended by the brand.

It goes without saying that the 4Moms MamaRoo is a premium product and, due to its relatively short life span, it’s certainly an investment. While parent tester Luci found her baby looked comfortable in the MamaRoo, there were a few elements she would improve. Bluetooth functionality -stream baby’s favorite music and easily adjust motion, speed, or sound with the 4moms app Dimensions She continues, “For the price, I think the fabric looks practical and is washable but is a bit shiny and not as premium as I was expecting. The woven harness strap really stands out – it looks cheap compared with the rest of the product.” This product is not intended, designed or marketed for sleep or unsupervised use. If baby falls asleep, move baby as soon as possible to a firm, flat sleep surface such as a crib or bassinet. Fabric Care

How does the 4Moms MamaRoo look?

This product is not intended, designed or marketed for sleep or unsupervised use. If baby falls asleep, move baby as soon as possible to a firm, flat sleep surface such as a crib or bassinet. The MamaRoo® Multi-Motion Baby Swing is the only baby swing that features multiple motions inspired by the way you bounce and sway. It will become part of your family's support system to keep baby happy, even when they can't be in your arms. There are four built-in sounds on the MamaRoo - specifically rain, ocean sounds, a fan sound and heartbeat, the latter of which can provide some familiar comfort to newborn babies. The sounds are relatively subtle and non-offensive, with an adjustable sound level that can be raised or lowered to suit your preferences via the app. For use from birth until child reaches maximum weight limit of 9kgs or can sit up unassisted or attempts to climb out, whichever comes first. Mumsnet user Terriblecreature agrees, saying “My little boy loved this and gave me a second to get a shower etc. Worth the hefty price tag in my opinion.” About the author
