About this deal

The simple fact is that today, after decades of improvements in the rate of adoption of child restraints, there are still many journeys where children do not have an appropriate restraint (estimated at 20% of all journeys). In terms of safety, I’m no engineer and not qualified to judge car seats and I don’t attempt to do that in this Mifold booster seat review. They should position seat belts so they lie across the strong bones of the chest and pelvis instead of the belly and the neck, where they could severely hurt a child in a crash. While the Mifold booster fits on most cars, if you have a curved-back seat, it’s going to be problematic. There has been widespread coverage in the media about proposed changes to the European regulations for child car safety seats, including those in the UK.

The mifold takes about 30 seconds to install per child and it’s quite easy once you’ve practiced once or twice. The Hifold is suitable for children aged 4 to 12 or weighing between 15 to 45kg (or up to 150cm), which makes it more versatile than many other travel boosters out there. Life with kids cant always be planned, so whether on holiday, in a taxi or on the school rota, keeping a mifold in a child’s backpack at all times offers a practical and viable solution for those occasions when a booster seat is simply not available. Their commitment to continue to license all existing booster seats for sale and continued use, without limitation, is their recognition that booster seats are a safe, well-established, practical, proven and cost effective method of restraining children in cars. Hunter filed a US patent for the “Safety Seat” … a box that lifted up a child and held a lap belt in place across the bones of the child’s hips.EU - MF01/EU (the model number is on the sticker attached to the back of the Shoulder Belt Guide) Is mifold treated with chemical based flame retardants? It means you know your car seat doesn’t get bashed about by luggage handlers, and you always have it to hand.

Whilst the boys are old enough to just have a booster seat (such as the mifold Comfort that we use for backpacking), we prefer a car seat with a head rest as the passenger seat they sit on doesn’t have one. It also meets US and Canadian regulations, but the dimensions and labelling are slightly different to allow for differing standards. It is brilliantly adaptable, so can be used in lots of different situations, for kids of many shapes and sizes. I ideally wanted them to still be rear facing but as it turned out, our car was not suitable and I had to go for a forwards but still I chose something which lots of people bypass.

Both products are definitely a great solution for globetrotters and for those who need a practical, easy and safe solution. This changes only apply to new products and does not affect products that have already been regulated. Whether packing away to take on holiday for use in a hire car, or simply being a lightweight space saver in a smaller motor, or for using with three children, the idea of Mifold immediately appealed to me. Invented from his own needs of being a parent of four, Jon Sumroy has transformed a simple idea into a successful product – mifold, the Grab-and-Go Booster Seat. Most car seats last between five and nine years after they were manufactured (not necessarily after they were bought); that's why it is important to check the user guide. There are many journeys made where children do not have a booster seat and travel without any form of assisted protection beyond using a regular adult sized seat-belt. Suddenly my kid and his friends can socialize with the carefree ease similar to that of my 80s childhood, back when we didn’t have to worry about car seats and boosters.
