About this deal

From reading this, you'd think every third Space Marine was a traitor of some sort, rather than being the nigh-on unbreakable fanatics they're supposed to be. Heroes of the Space Marines is an anthology of stories about these brave champions and their dark counterparts, the Chaos Space Marines. The story has a nice plot with some good twists and a nice cameo from Huron Blackheart, one of my favourite 40K special characters. As much as he enjoys such hunts, he also despairs at his personal, seemingly eternal role in the Long War, apparently blinded to the easy way out by his Chaotic masters. Young men take part in a Chaotic ritual that they don't truly understand, but one thing is for certain: the only victors will be the traitorous Night Lords.

As with all anthologies some of the stories in this book are much better than others, and everyone will have different ideas about which are which. Each of the stories follows marines of either the Imperium or Chaos as they fight their foes and complete their missions. You can arm the Captain with a master-crafted bolter, plasma pistol, or neo-volkite pistol in one hand, and a power fist or power sword in the other.Dass aber die Astartes als unfähige Deppen dargestellt werden, die allenfalls gegen ein paar Orks, nie aber gegen das Chaos gewinnen können passt nicht zu "Heroes of the Space Marines". However, many of the stories were a little disappointing for me, not really capturing the essence of the Adeptus Astartes. Although the adversities where cool I really enjoy the ending since I predicted what was going to happen and then the author throws a curve ball. This multipart plastic kit builds a Space Marine Captain and four Company Heroes to accompany him into battle. This was my first warhammer 40k book, and the only real thing it made me think was "Why would anyone even like the space marines?

Castellan Reinhart and his warriors arrive on the world, greeted by representatives of the Inquisition and the Sisters of Battle. Renowned as some of the staunchest defenders of humanity, surely it is inconceivable that marines of the Crimson Fists Chapter would ever shrink from bringing death to the Emperor's enemies? His retinue includes a Company Champion armed with a two-handed power sword, an Ancient bearing aloft an ornate banner, and two Company Veterans carrying master-crafted firearms – one with a bolt rifle, the other with a heavy bolter. There are some stories about loyalist marines slicing their way through hordes of xenos and so on, but quite a few stories are about Chaos marines, initiates etc.

Alles in allem eine nette und kurzweilige Anthologie, welche Fans des WH40K Settings sicherlich unterhalten dürfte. All we ask is the product still be in its original packaging and you have your proof of purchase and we'll be happy to help. The final story in this collection is `One Hate' by Aaron Dembski-Bowden which although good is something of a retread of `And They Shall Know No Fear. For someone who's halfway through the Horus Heresy, a few of the stories were spoilers-lite, but nothing egregious. Honour among Fiends' by Dylan Owen is the fourth story of the collection and is easily one of the best in the book.Allerdings: wirklich „schlecht“ fand ich auch keine Geschichte, HEROES OF THE SPACE MARINES ist qualitativ also definitiv in Ordnung. Ich muss allerdings gestehen, dass mich HEROES OF THE SPACE MARINES dennoch nicht direkt umgehauen hat – so einen richtigen Hammer habe ich unter den Stories nicht gefunden, und mitunter wirkte bei der Lektüre Vieles ziemlich vorhersehbar… und eben nicht ganz auf Augenhöhe mit den Highlights aus dem großen Fundus der in den letzten 30 Jahren erschienenen WH40K-Erzählungen. This anthology features an Ultramarines series tie-in by Graham McNeill featuring the Iron Warrior Honsou, a prequel story to the Salamander series by Nick Kyme, a tie-in to the Imperial Fists series by Chris Roberson and Deathwatch and Night Lords stories, setting the stars ablaze with the fury of the Space Marines. The Labyrinth' by Richard Ford - A group of the Sons Of Malice traitor marines undergo a test to join an elite group. The Astartes are supposed to be the greatest embodiment of the Emperor's will, sworn to defend humanity at its darkest times.
