About this deal

Whilst Hal and Nat did travel to reach the crime scene and trains were still a key component of the story, I did miss the element of a crime occurring on a train and needing to be solved before it reaches its final destination.

Karakters worden op slimme wijze geïntroduceerd en er wordt met net genoeg informatie verwezen naar avonturen uit het verleden zodat het verhaal ook goed te volgen is zonder de vorige delen te hebben gelezen. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Wildly funny, with hairpin plot bends and inventive characters, this series is firmly on track to become a bestseller. Join Hal and Uncle Nat on more stops in this thrilling series with: The Highland Falcon Thief, Kidnap on the California Comet, Murder on the Safari Star and Sabotage on the Solar Express.I particularly liked the inclusion of some new background on Uncle Nat that should make for some interesting plot developments going forward and keep the series fresh. I did miss being on the train the whole time, I feel like that always adds a nice closed circle, or even locked room element, to the mystery. This time, Hal and Uncle Nat find themselves investigating an ancient family curse, a missing will, and a witch who is said to prowl the railway line at Dead Man's Pass.

I do hope going forth more recurring characters are brought into the mix as the baron was; while being introduced to an entirely new cast is fun, sometimes you do want old roots to peek out of the ground from time to time. As in previous books, this one combined a thrilling story and a classic denouement at the end with lots of interesting facts as Uncle Nat and Hal travel across Europe. There's four new kids to keep up with, some with more personality than others, and I'm still not sure who Ozan is. Nat makes a point very early on about how, as they're going undercover, Hal can't draw the way he usually does with all his supplies - in case it gives him away. Listen to them read an extract from the book and discover the inspiration behind their Adventures on Trains Series. Even though all of the books in the series have the same main characters and themes, they are all different enough to make them each an enjoyable read on their own.
