About this deal

The story takes place entirely in the human world, so it might not feel fully fantasy to some, but the world of the mer is so interesting, and really suffuses the way Crest thinks and acts. I know people criticize Disney's Little Mermaid because they say that Ariel gives up everything for Eric, but at least it was more than just a physical relationship. When their paths cross, Ross realises it's the perfect opportunity for them to get their task done and go back to the sea — they will help Sean get his boyfriend back by following the steps of the carefully planned rom-com script Sean has prepared.

There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors. I loved the fantastical elements mixed into the real world, while delivering amazing character development for all of the main characters. A stunning celebration of being yourself and living in ALL the colours of the rainbow, from debut author Robert Tregoning and rising star illustrator Stef Murphy. For me, though I loved the idea of a queer mermaid, and I was excited by the rep at large, this really wasn't the book for me.Frann Preston- Gannon offers pictures that suggest ages past alongside technical drawings, such as the development of gills to ‘ jaws, ears and throats’. Splashy, voicey, and prescient, this fish-out-of-water tale (pun intended) is the perfect rom-com to have in your beach bag this summer. This meant an eruption of life, from the emergence of insects, to newer mollusks, like snails that ‘ developed lungs to breathe air’. Sean is the rom-com film director framing every life event (and most of the scenes in the book) as a framing shot.

Perhaps one of the most surreal creatures to be found beneath the ocean’s surface, the jellyfish moves through the sea like a dancer. Ross's choice of the Blue over Sean was in the mer's mind all the time, and the story let me hope not once, but twice, that they would end up together after a twist, only for the author to double back and say "nope, the right choice is to pick Home, not Love". Like, I adored both Crest/Ross and Sean as characters, but their motivations and understanding around their relationship were very hard to follow in moments. To the point where I kinda-sorta-maybe understand why Ross "loves" Sean; Sean organizes at least 2 dates that are sweet and demonstrate that he's aware of what Ross likes/needs. Liz Truss became prime minister on 6 September 2022, following the resignation of Boris Johnson and her victory over Rishi Sunak in the Conservative leadership election.

As I said, merpeople are all non-binary, so when Ross goes to land, they decide to maintain the pronouns they used under the sea instead of 'choosing a binary gender to blend in better with the humans', like their elders told them. Then again, you see the greens and rainbows of the world painted over and discarded, while you savour any little piece of difference you can find. Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned.

With unrivalled access and insight, award-winning political journalists Harry Cole and James Heale provide the answers, drawing on interviews with Truss's friends and supporters, as well as her worst critics and rivals, from Kwasi Kwarteng to Michael Gove. Despite that I still had a great time with this book, and the story reminded me of when I used to watch "H2O: Just Add Water" on repeat, which definitely made me happy. Obliviousness isn’t always a blessing in politics however, as becomes clear in her first job as early years minister under David Cameron. Thereafter, we realise how we have morphed into our Cenozoic Era, alongside considering what may be to come.

One remarkable design showcases a breathtaking display of blue cuprian elbaite tourmalines of over 6 total carats that are framed by custom-cut diamonds.
